Things look a lot different in a nursing home these days. Residents and staff are all wearing masks, big group activities are no longer scheduled, and the halls are a little more quiet than normal. You may be wondering, “how are nursing homes celebrating the holidays during COVID-19?” At JMS, ensuring the safety of our residents and staff is of utmost priority during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Activity directors and staff have been busy planning fun room-to-room activities, smaller social-distanced games, and rolling carts with festive games or treats. Rest assured, there is no shortage of fun at our JMS Senior Living homes.
While nursing home visiting practices have changed, it is still important for residents and their friends and families to interact as much as possible. Scheduling virtual visits has been an easy way to make sure residents and visitors are able to see each other and carry on a conversation using both visual and audio capabilities.
In addition, residents love getting mail. Cards are a great way to bring the holiday spirit to the residents. They also appreciate small packages that can be brought to the building and delivered to their room. Snacks, photos, small books, puzzles, and small holiday decorations are other items that are enjoyed by residents. While socially distancing from your loved one is difficult, remaining connected is still possible.
Thank you for trusting us to care for your loved ones, and rest assured that they are in good hands.
Happy Holidays from all of us at JMS Senior Living!
